Zakelijke, functionele architectuur met decoratief effect door het contrasterend materiaal van beide gevels (baksteen tegenover natuursteen), de fel witgeschilderde poorten, deuren, balkonhekken en ramen, de twee rondvensters van nummer 39, en het contrast tussen de vlakke voorgevel met aaneengesloten vensterregisters van nummer 39 en de voorgevel van nummer 40 waar meer reliëf in betracht is door het aanbrengen van vensterdorpels, uitspringende balkons met ijzeren hekken en dieperliggende deurvensters. De toenmalige geest van driedimensionale evenwaardigheid en zogenaamde alzijdigheid" van het bouwwerk wordt geconcretiseerd in het dakterras van nummer 39.
